"Baby" is the first publication of the French classic writer Alphonse Daudet (1840-1897) in major prose. This novel, released in 1868, the author called something "like an autobiography," although some events are fictional.
The novel touches on the important theme of psychological maturation, which for the main character - a young man named Daniel Eiset - has not occurred. He completely justified the nickname Baby, which was once given to him. Daniel, formally an adult, remains a child at heart, who needs to be cared for and guided. In this situation, the surrounding people are partly to blame, but partly Daniel himself, who is comfortable being Baby.
