Darsi Wells works in the bookstore "Yellow Feather" and knows as many smart words as cannot fit in any dictionary. She is used to running away from problems and hiding that her apartment has long turned into a warehouse of... useless items, while her mother suffers from hoarding, drowning her loneliness in constant shopping.Her fragile world of book dreams collapses in an instant. First, the new housekeeper is determined to find out what is happening behind the always closed doors of her apartment. Then a new regular customer appears at "Yellow Feather" — Esher Fleet, a lover of thrillers and speed reading, whom Darsi falls hopelessly in love with. Only a used edition of "Peter Pan" with comments from the previous owner helps Darsi not to fall into despair.
