The story "Scarecrow" is about "strange" people — an elderly front-line soldier who collects paintings of his artist ancestor and his granddaughter, a sixth grader named Lena Bessoltseva. The girl, deprived of the protective indifference and the ability not to... notice cruelty or injustice. Instead, she is abundantly endowed with love for people, even if they may not deserve it. She faced hatred from her classmates, indifference from her teachers, inattentiveness from her grandfather… And the most terrible thing — the betrayal of someone she considered a friend. What happened to Lena? She became strong, brave, and… magnanimous. To forgive and believe in a person can only be done by a very strong personality. Based on the story by V. Zheleznikov, director Roland Bykov made one of the most stunning films of the 20th century "Scarecrow".
