However, the future creator of the historical treatise "The Jewish War" chooses his own path, on which he is infinitely alone: living in Rome and enjoying the patronage of the Flavians, he becomes the most devoted preacher of the unique role of the Jewish people in the history of humanity… In Feuchtwanger's work — a German of Jewish descent who was forced to leave Germany with the rise of the Nazis — the themes of exile from the homeland and the place of the Jewish people in the world acquire a special, deeply personal resonance.
