The Mysteries of Heraclitus

People of outstanding intellect promise the impossible: a world without wars, glory without oblivion, and life without death. Tomorrow they will announce to us a summer without winter and a day without night. But am I, Heraclitus, a donkey, to be taken for a walk, waving a handful of straw in front of my face?
