Plato of Athens, real name Aristocles — ancient Greek idealist philosopher, student of Socrates.

His teaching, the first classical form of objective idealism, gave its name to a whole direction in philosophy — idealism.

The main ideas of Plato consisted of the fact that the world of things — the world visible to us, the sensory world — is not the ultimate basic reality, but an imperfect semblance, a projection of the world of ideas.

This volume presents the «Dialogues» of Plato — conversations of wise and respected citizens discussing a variety of questions and compositions of the Platonic school.
