Not much is known about the case of Captain First Rank Alexei Mikhailovich Shchastny even today. It lay in the secret archives of the KGB for over 70 years and has accumulated numerous myths and rumors. He was elevated to the heights of political life in Russia, touched the helm of the state ship, and was thrown from it. He committed an undeniable feat, bringing the Baltic Fleet out of Helsinki and Tallinn and saving for the Motherland 236 combat ships and auxiliary vessels, which later played a significant role in the battles of the Great Patriotic War. An outsider among both the Bolsheviks and the White Movement, he failed in his attempts to become the 'leader' of the Baltic Fleet while simultaneously saving it at the cost of his own life.
