Uncle Tom's Cabin

The book presents an adaptation of the famous novel by American writer Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811 – 1896) "Uncle Tom's Cabin" about the tragic fate of American black slaves. At the center of the novel is the story of a... kind, hardworking, and brave man – the enslaved Uncle Tom, who defended his honor and dignity at the cost of his own life. In this guide, the text of the novel has been adapted for educational purposes to an Intermediate level. Each chapter is accompanied by commentary and translations of difficult words and expressions, as well as exercises aimed at checking comprehension of the text, practicing vocabulary and grammar rules, and developing oral speech. At the end of the guide, there is an English-Russian dictionary.
