Kremlin Wives

The documentary and journalistic study by Larisa Vasilieva is dedicated to the fates of those women whose husbands were leaders of the Soviet state. From Nadezhda Krupskaya to Raisa Gorbacheva, the author paints portraits of the Kremlin wives, telling about their characters, actions, and the complex intricacies of their life paths. What were these companions of the top officials of the USSR like? Were their lives happy behind the Kremlin walls? Why were some of them arrested or exiled? A special place in the book is occupied by those who, not in the role of a wife, but as allies, entered the corridors of the Kremlin: Larisa Reisner, Alexandra Kollontai, Galina Semyonova. The book is based on unique archival materials, personal impressions, conversations with eyewitnesses, and the memories of contemporaries.
