This guide is divided into 18 lessons, containing basic grammatical information, short texts and dialogues, as well as exercises to reinforce the material. The authors of the self-study guide, who have teaching experience, do not aim to cover all the... complexities of the French language. They offer the reader the necessary grammatical and lexical minimum, allowing for the first steps toward confident command of the French language.
The book also includes several texts from French classical literature: fairy tales by Charles Perrault, selected chapters from “Tristan and Isolde” and “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame,” poems by outstanding French poets. All of this, along with brief cultural information, makes the learning process more diverse and engaging.
At the end of the book, there is an Appendix that includes additional lexical and grammatical material, Dictionaries (including those for the literary works included in the self-study guide), and Answers to the exercises.
The edition is intended for a wide audience of readers starting to learn the French language.
