For Joanna, her husband Walter, and their children, moving to picturesque Stepford is an event too wonderful to be true. All the women here are perfect wives and mothers, fully devoted to their families and household chores. And while they... perfect domesticity, their husbands gather every evening in a mysterious Men's Association. Joanna's astonishment knows no bounds when she learns from old newspapers that there used to be a Women's Club in Stepford, with many local housewives being its activists and sharing feminist views. And now, behind the idyllic facade of the quiet town, something strange is happening…
The novel has been adapted to film twice in Hollywood – the first version was released in 1975, and in 2004 a comedic version starring Nicole Kidman was made.
