Crazy Rich Asians

"Nowhere in the world will you find such wealthy people as the Chinese," wrote the medieval Arab traveler Ibn Battuta; this phrase was used by Kevin Kwan as an epigraph to his international bestseller.

So, meet Rachel Chu; she is an American of Chinese descent, a young economics professor at New York University and a specialist in game theory. One day her boyfriend Nick, also a university lecturer from Singapore, invites her to spend the summer in Asia - to accompany him on a trip to the wedding of his best friend Colin.

Rachel knows almost nothing about his family (just as his family knows almost nothing about Rachel), and only during the trip does she learn that they are insanely rich, and Nick is one of the most sought-after Asian bachelors...

The film rights to the novel were bought by Nina Jacobson - producer of the "Hunger Games," and the film "Crazy Rich Asians" (directed by Jon M. Chu, starring Constance Wu and Henry Golding) became one of the box office leaders in 2018.
