This time, Lucky Luke is assigned to escort the Wells Fargo diligence, transporting passengers and a valuable load of gold across half of America, from Denver to San Francisco. The heroes are faced with another dangerous journey in the typical mode of transport of those times – the diligence, which has become in some way a symbol of the era of Wild West development. “Diligence” is not only a western but also a detective, as Lucky Luke has to identify a traitor among the passengers who, along with accomplices, plans to rob the diligence and seize the chest of gold. Comics about Lucky Luke are aimed at the broadest audience. Both children and older readers will be delighted by the adventurous storyline, virtuoso caricature drawings, and good irony and humor present in every frame. The humor, based, as a rule, on wordplay and the principles of situational comedy, never stoops to low blows.
