The Odyssey

The poem "The Odyssey," created by the genius of the legendary epic poet of Ancient Greece, Homer, is one of the greatest works of world literature. The dangerous adventures of the cunning and long-suffering Odysseus (who, passionately striving to return home to Ithaca, must engage in combat with Poseidon, visit the land of fierce cannibals, and the island of the sorceress Circe, and then journey to the threshold of the realm of the dead), the tender feelings of the heroes and the passions that rage on the pages of the poem, the legends and mysteries that shroud the past, and finally, the very language in which Homer's poem is written, extraordinarily vivid and colorful, all of this continually attracts the attention of new readers, inspiring poets and artists.
