In 1908, the legendary photographer, scientist, and traveler Sergey Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorsky receives a dangerous assignment from the government of the Russian Empire. In search of a unique artifact, the Klepsydra of the White Castle, he embarks on a journey to the heart of the Samarkand desert, unaware that he is being followed by secret agents of Emperor Mutsuhito. When the photographer finally reaches his destination, an inexplicable incident throws him and his companions into a mysterious fortress among the sands... And what to do when you need to return by Saturday, but fate offers immortality in exchange for captivity in a mythical fortress?
