The Day I Learned to Live

Laurent Gounelle is among the top five most popular fiction writers in France. His new book is called «The Day I Learned to Live».

Imagine that one fine day a fortune teller, looking at your palm, suddenly falls silent in fear. And only after persistent requests do you get an answer from her. It sounds rather frightening: «You will die soon».

For Jonathan, the hero of Gounelle's novel, the world completely changes. And although the doctors find no diseases, he decides to spend several weeks among the mountains and hills by the ocean shore. For the first time, he is in no hurry.

In search of answers to eternal questions about the meaning of life, Jonathan gets to know himself anew.

Encounters, wanderings, adventures, and self-discovery fundamentally alter both his view of life and life itself ...
This book sheds new light on our existence and relationships with others; it feels as if someone has opened a window and a fresh breeze has burst into the stale atmosphere.
