In the Trenches of Stalingrad

"In the Trenches of Stalingrad" (first published in 1946) did not reach the reader easily and was only printed thanks to the persistence of Alexander Twardowski, but it is from this work that began the fame of one of the best directions in domestic literature about the Great Patriotic War - "lieutenant prose." Simple and human, largely autobiographical, full of precise details and expressive characters, Nekrasov's novella is a true hymn to the "little people" who won the great war, ordinary people who became part of a great feat.
