Bitter Taste of Love

The novel transports us to Saudi Arabia, to the sun-baked streets of Jeddah. The religious police, enforcing strict Sharia laws, closely monitor the moral conduct of devout Muslims: men and women who are not married are forbidden not only to communicate but even to exchange glances.

Against all odds, young Nasser and Fiore fell in love with each other. The lovers put themselves in great danger: they have to resort to many risky tricks just to occasionally see each other on the street or secretly exchange love letters.
