To Kill a Mockingbird…

At the center of the story is the family of lawyer Atticus Finch. While his children, along with their friend Dill, observe their neighbors, invent stories about the mysterious Arthur Radley, and gradually learn the rules of life in Maycomb, a high-profile trial begins in the town. Atticus takes on the defense of Tom Robinson, a black man accused of assaulting a white girl. For the residents of the county, this is not just a court case, but a test of their beliefs, fears, and the habit of dividing people into «us» and «them».
