Onesto

One stormy night, from the window of his home in the Dolomite Alps, aspiring writer Francesco notices an old man in trouble and offers him shelter. Thus, he meets Guido Contini, nicknamed Cognac, whose face, like the rocks, is etched with wrinkles, and in his bottomless blue eyes reflects the mountain sky.

The next day, Guido Contini shows Francesco a birch bark box, and inside it is a stack of ancient letters addressed to the peaks of the surrounding mountains. They are written by a man who calls himself Onesto, who lost everything he had, but despite everything, considered himself the richest man in the world.

The letters, full of family secrets, terrible events, and the triumph of life, as well as inexpressible love that flows tumultuously through the entire twentieth century.
