A Dog Went by the Piano

«A Dog Went by the Piano» — a lyrical tale about first love, growing up and the choice between romantic dreams and ordinary life. The plot centers around fifteen-year-old Tanya Kanareykina from the village of Bersenyevka, who tries to understand what a person next to her should be like. Rural life, family environment, youthful expectations, and light irony create a lively, recognizable setting where romantic dreams are constantly tested by reality. She is attracted to the young pilot Komarov: he flies over the collective farm fields on a Ka-26, sprays chemicals, and plays the trumpet, so in the heroine's eyes, he seems almost like a fairytale hero. There is also another person nearby — her neighbor and classmate Misha Sinitsyn, a seventeen-year-old tractor driver who does not hide his affection. An internal conflict arises between the idealized image and the simple, earthly attitude towards life, which holds the story together.
