The Foundling

Once Matryona was kidnapped by a witch, but the witch who returned the girl saved her, yet could not break the connection with the Otherworld. Years have passed. Now the heroine lives an ordinary village life, helps her loved ones, and tries not to stand out, although she sees and feels more than others. The greater the tension between the Real World and the Otherworld becomes, the harder it is for her to stay on the sidelines.

The plot combines mysticism, a romantic storyline, and a story of choice. Two suitors appear in the heroine's life: Matvey, connected to the earthly and understandable world, and Ignat, who is backed by the power of the Otherworld. The personal choice gradually becomes part of an old conflict, where not only feelings are at stake, but also the fate of loved ones. The book features folk mythological images, a village environment, anxiety before the unknown, and the theme of an inner boundary that a person must defend.
