Self-Tutor for Playing the Accordion

The proposed Self-Tutor is an educational resource for those who wish to learn to play the accordion independently, as well as for students of music schools, cultural educational institutions, and amateur artistic groups. The material included in the Self-Tutor is designed for a one- to two-year learning period, depending on individual and age characteristics. The entire course is divided into topics, which sequentially present the basic elements of playing technique, music theory, and provide necessary information on working with musical texts. Great attention is paid to fostering creative musical thinking among learners based on developing skills in playing melodies by ear, accompaniment, transposing into various keys, learning pieces with letter-number designations of accompaniment, and performing the same piece in both simpler and more complex textures. For the effectiveness of the classes using the Self-Tutor, it is recommended to follow the theoretical and practical (notational) material sequentially. The repertoire of the Self-Tutor includes arrangements and transcriptions of popular songs and dance music, pop, folk, and classical music. Considering the different levels of learners, the repertoire includes both easy and fairly complex pieces. Not all pieces can be memorized. Some works are played for the purpose of familiarization.
