Heidi, or The Magic Valley

An orphan named Heidi is sent to live with her grandfather in the Swiss Alps. The villagers from the nearby town are wary of him and call him the Mountain Uncle, but the girl is enchanted by the reclusive old man and, like a mountain breeze, bursts into his life and turns everything upside down. Gradually, the girl's cheerfulness and kindness melt the heart of not only her grandfather but also the people around her, and Heidi herself falls in love with the simple rural life, the majestic mountains, and the blooming alpine meadows. However, circumstances soon separate the girl from her beloved home…
