Little children love such books.
The story of the intelligent girl Mura and the inattentive dad teaches children to distinguish between the concepts of "how it’s right" and "how it’s wrong." Chukovsky was sure that books with "nonsense" or "reversals" are critically important for the intellectual development of children.
The artist Aminadav Kanevsky picked up the writer's idea and created "incorrect" pictures. Dad in the booth - the puppy reads a newspaper at the table; mice catch a cat; a little boat on the shore - a house in the river; shoes on the bed - a girl under the bed; a little horse is riding on a boy. The child immediately notices these funny absurdities and approves the correct options. Thus, through cheerful plots, children's logic and knowledge of the real world are formed.
The first edition was published in 1940. Later, Chukovsky made several changes to the book. Dad was replaced by Bob's brother, who now had to draw not only a cat and a house with a boat but also an airplane, a motorcycle, and a car. However, in all editions, Mura, the writer's beloved daughter who left this world too early, is invariably present.
