The Favorite Stepson of Life

This book is written by a person who has lived a long life and, in already quite mature years, is trying to make sense of it. However, this is not a memoir, but a work of fiction. The book consists of four parts. In three of them, the author seems to convey his voice to the characters-narrators, placed in exceptional, even fantastic circumstances. The last part, by his own admission, is «written almost in his own name». However, here the fate is not only personal but also that of a whole generation, which was alternately «granted» and rejected by changing epochs. Therefore, both himself and his contemporaries with a similar fate are referred to by the author as «the favorite stepsons of life».
