The Summer of Our Autumn

«The Summer of Our Autumn» — a family saga in the genre of autofiction, consisting of diary entries about a girl Polya, a boy Danya, and the youngest — Miko, who come every summer to their grandmother Nina and grandfather Vova in the Urals. The entries, made on the hot trails over the course of 13 years, allow us to trace the growth of the children, to immerse ourselves in the «logic of the current socio-historical moment». Pages from the diary capture not only amusing cases, everyday trifles, news and words doomed to oblivion by the next day, but also the specificity of each year of the era of «fat tens» and nervous, atypical twenties. The youth of Polya, the adolescence of Danya, and the childhood of Miko thus become a «point of entry» into the history of the country and the Ural region, as well as a chance to trace, with dotted lines, the lives and fates of the immediate circle of relatives and acquaintances striving to make childhood happy.
