In the streets of St. Petersburg, people are going crazy: stripping naked and singing lewd songs. When a city guard is killed by the hand of another madman, and traces of charms are found on the murderer, the Mirror Ministry gets involved. Mitya Demidov arrives in the capital – the former head of the Department of Mirror Magic in the provincial Kreshchensk. He has lost his position and his abilities, but that doesn't stop him from getting involved in the investigation again. Mitya immediately attracts the attention of criminals and narrowly escapes a trap. However, it’s not just the villains who are interested in him. The ministry is preparing a bold plan to expose those who are causing chaos on the streets and practicing forbidden charms, playing their twisted game against the Mirrors and the Emperor himself. And Mitya is set to become the main trump card in this dangerous game.
