About the book: A collectible gift edition of the poem by N.V. Gogol "Dead Souls" — a joint project of the Publishing House "SNOW" and the Russian State Library (RGB).

About the illustrations: The book contains 104 illustrations by the artist A.A. Agin and the engraver E.E. Bernardsky. Young graduates of the Academy of Arts, students of K. Bryullov and K. Klodt, were the first to publish their drawings for "Dead Souls" in 1846. All engravings in the book are taken from the original 19th-century works from the RGB collections.

Brief content: A biographical essay about N.V. Gogol written by S. Orlovsky in 1904. As an appendix to the poem, the edition includes the book by K. Kuzminsky "Illustrator-Artist — Agin" (1923), which reveals the life and creative path of the first creators of the artistic images of Gogol's immortal poem.

About the materials used to create the book and the technologies employed: The binding is made from the highest quality European binding material. The block is printed on coated German paper. The cover is adorned with a bronze relief of N.V. Gogol. Bands on the spine, silk ribbon, gold embossing. A hard gift case with selective varnishing and a bronze seal reliably protects the edition.
