Marine Animals in Comics. Volume 5.

In the fifth volume of the French series «Marine Animals in Comics», the authors focused primarily on the issues of marine environmental protection and rational use of natural resources. Readers will learn how important it is to regulate industrial fishing to prevent a sharp decline in populations, or even extinction, of many species; what the advantages of artisanal fishing are compared to industrial fishing; what «bycatch» (in other words, unintentional catch) is and what harm it causes to underwater ecosystems; what the pollution of rivers, seas, and oceans with plastic and other waste leads to; why the number of jellyfish is increasing worldwide and how this affects the natural ecological balance... The growing interest in ecological and environmental protection issues is linked to the deeper involvement of specialists in the work on this volume: in particular, along with the cohesive team of authors consisting of writer Christophe Casanova, artist Jitery, and colorists Alexander Amurik and Mirabel, oceanographer Michel Inyett has joined the team - who, however, is well known to us from the acknowledgments in previous volumes!
