Russian Language: First Steps. Part 1

The educational complex "First Steps" is designed for foreigners beginning to learn Russian language according to the First Certification Level of Communicative Competence Program (ТРКИ-1). The complex consists of three parts. The first part contains 11 lessons. The mastery of lexical and grammatical material is intended for 100-200 hours of classroom activities. The aim of the first part is to develop primary language skills and speech abilities related to solving simple communicative tasks. The manual includes an introductory phonetic course, basic information about parts of speech and sentence components, and the structure of a two-member sentence. Students learn the system of declension of singular nouns, personal pronouns, conjugation of imperfective verbs, and motion verbs without prefixes; they will learn to express temporal, causal, target, comparative, and spatial relations with means suitable for this stage of learning. Each lesson includes assessment tasks.
