The service for the elimination of immanent phenomena takes on several cases at once. A restaurant building disappears without a trace along with its owner, a mysterious murder occurs in a locked apartment, and a well-known person receives a prediction of imminent death from an oracle. Avis Amarant and investigator Ina Goreslavka examine these cases as separate investigations, but gradually a connection between them emerges. The tension is maintained by a combination of detective and fantasy: the heroes need to seek clues in a world where, alongside bureaucracy and urban routine, gods, prophecies, and anomalous phenomena exist.
