This time Alexey Ivanov turned to science fiction. A team of lumberjacks is making its way through the forest thickets of the Urals to an abandoned military facility in the mysterious Yamantau mountain. The world around is like ours, but somehow not quite... The geography is real, however, the villages and towns are empty, the factories are dead, and the roads are overgrown with trees. And the main thing is that the forest itself has changed. Its vegetation has been artificially accelerated for timber extraction, and the forest has mutated. It lives its own life. It has turned against civilization: in its depths, there are plague walkers – crazed machines and people lose their biological nature here. However, is it only biological?.. The teams of lumberjacks are no better than the world around them: they are competitors to each other and there is war between them.
