The Forgotten Case of Kalevala

Anna Sterkhova arrives in the Karelia city of Sortavala to investigate the disappearance of the Kettunen family — Mikko, his wife Maria, and their two children, who vanished in 1989. From the very first days, she encounters opposition: the head of the local investigative department is cold and unfriendly, the case is formally closed due to lack of evidence of a crime, and key physical evidence — including a map drawn by the missing Mikko Kettunen — has mysteriously disappeared from the archive. Captain Melentyev, who was involved in the initial investigation, admits that the case was closed under pressure thirty years ago, although there were grounds to suspect murder.
