In the most extensive of his works, Rambam summarizes and systematizes the Talmudic tradition and presents the entire body of Jewish religious law – halakha – in an accessible form. The essence of holiness, according to Jewish tradition, consists in the separation of the people of Israel from other nations. The fifth book of Mishneh Torah, "Holiness", includes: "Laws of Forbidden Relationships", "Laws of Forbidden Food", and "Laws of Slaughtering Animals", which regulate the interactions of Jews with the nations of the world.
