Traitors

«Traitors» — the second novel by David Bezmozgis — tells of a day in the life of Baruch Kotler, a prominent Israeli public and political figure, who in the past was a famous dissident-refusenik, having spent many years in a Soviet prison. On this day, Kotler unexpectedly encounters a man who once reported him to the KGB. And this day turns his views on both the events of his past and his plans for the future upside down. Over the course of this day, Baruch Kotler must not only understand how and why his friend betrayed him but also comprehend how and why he himself has now betrayed his wife, who fought for his release for 13 long years, and his children.
