Midrash Tells Children. The Book of Devarim

Midrash (explanations of our sages) — is a story related to the sacred books, their heroes and plots, but midrash tells about what is absent in these books. Absent — but restored from other places in the Torah, other texts, and oral tradition. Using the entire volume of knowledge and rules for interpreting texts, our sages arrive at a new, deeper, often unexpected understanding of what, seemingly, has long been known and studied.

In the proposed series of books “Midrash Tells Children,” some midrashim are presented for each weekly chapter of the Torah. The fifth volume is dedicated to the Book of Devarim. Young readers will continue to study the history of the Israelites' wanderings in the desert and their conquest of Eretz Yisrael, learn wise and dramatic stories about Moshe Rabbeinu, about how until his very end, he taught the people of Israel to correctly understand and fulfill the will of Ha-Shem, about the indissolubility of the Covenant between the Almighty and His people.
