Jews as Jews. A Book about a Disappeared Life

The book about the disappeared life "Jews as Jews", first published in 1935, is considered the pinnacle of the work of the famous writer Ieshua Perle (1888–1943), who perished in the Birkenau concentration camp. From the perspective of the autobiographical protagonist, a twelve-year-old boy named Mendel, the author candidly and sometimes harshly portrays life in a Polish provincial town at the end of the 19th century with naturalism. The book received awards from the Bund and the Jewish PEN Club in Poland. It was originally published four times in Yiddish and is being published in Russian for the first time.
