The mid-1930s, a small Westphalian town. Many Jews in Germany have already lost their jobs and been pushed out of society. But cellist Erich Krakau still works in the city orchestra. Karl Alfred Löser (1909–1999) presumably wrote "Requiem" in 1938 in Brazil, where he fled from Europe, but the manuscript was found only after the author's death and published only in 2023.
