New York, 1953. Simon Patnam, a Harvard graduate, is hired by a prestigious publishing house. Before the young man from a humble Jewish family opens up to the dazzling world of literary and publishing elite. But the very first assignment makes Simon ponder the price of the entrance ticket. Simon's situation worsens when he meets the author, the beautiful and flighty Anya Partridge, a patient at a psychiatric clinic. And when it seems that Simon himself is mired in the thick syrup of sex, money, politics, and power, generously flavored by Anya's manuscript, and completely bewildered, he manages to untangle all the threads of this incredible story…
