This collection includes selected speeches by Joseph Brodsky, created by the poet in the 1980s. This is the speech at the Swedish Academy upon receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature, the "Act Speech" delivered to graduates of the oldest college in the U.S., Williams College, "In Praise of Boredom," addressed to students of the famous Dartmouth College, as well as the "Stadium Speech," directed at graduates of the University of Michigan. The "Stadium Speech" is called the speech that changed the world, and the advice to young people, based on biblical motifs, became known as the "Commandments of Brodsky." In this edition, these texts are presented in English as well as in translation into Russian.
