Zakhar meets a gypsy camp, a White Guard officer, a dangerous robber named Varvara, who for some reason hates his whole family, a primitive woman named Nadya, and a remarkable creature — the mammoth calf Dobrynya, whom he himself, Zakhar, has drawn from the past! Incredible, but Zakhar has a gift that no one in the village is particularly surprised by: he can touch the shadows. No one else is capable of such a thing! And everything would be fine, but the labyrinth is at the edge of Kostyonki, and the museum where his Uncle works wants to be demolished and replaced with a cottage settlement!

Is it possible to resist the investors when you are supported only by the shadows of the labyrinth and your classmates? Will the kids manage to help the mammoth calf return to his time?
