We have all heard legends about great wizards, but do we know how these stories begin? Ardan Egobar, a young man living in a remote corner of the Empire of the New Monarchy, does not know. He does not know that this story is about him. Not yet... In a world where steam locomotives puff along the railways, where enormous airships are frozen in the sky; where one can encounter orcs dressed in suits engaging in racketeering; dwarves with cigars holding large cans; or elves parading along fashionable boulevards.
