The work of Soviet writer Alexei Tolstoy was published on the verge of 1935-36, but the work on the fairy tale began in 1923 when Tolstoy edited the Russian translation of «Pinocchio» by Carlo Collodi. Initially, Tolstoy wanted to publish his own translation of the book, but he got so carried away in the process that he created a new plot. Only in the USSR, «Buratino» was reprinted almost 200 times! From a magical log that can squeak and fight, the most disobedient boy in the world is born! Old Carlo, carving a puppet in his shabby little room, has no idea that he is giving life not just to a wooden figure but to a real rascal.
