"Hops". The first part of the trilogy, which recreates the life of a particular corner of the vast Russia - the Siberian region. The author tells about various unofficial religious movements of that time through the example of the Old Believer schismatic community of elder Philaret, into which the Decembrist Loparev finds himself, "so that the tsar's servants cannot reach him with their hands." But even here he cannot feel safe. For the path from the darkness of prejudices to the attainment of will and happiness is complex, but the aspiration for freedom is indestructible.
