Wuthering Heights

"Wuthering Heights" — is a story of love on the brink of obsession and revenge, which breaks the destinies of two generations. The only novel by English writer and poet Emily Brontë. The book became a true challenge to strict Victorian morality and sparked heated debates.

Catherine — a woman trying to live by her own rules, the orphan Heathcliff, whose race and ethnicity are still disputed, an old family mansion, lost amidst the heather moors of Yorkshire, ghostly phenomena, and the change of unreliable narrators — all this is beautifully woven by the well-educated Brontë into a mysterious, imagination-stirring narrative.

"The murdered, I believe, haunt their killers. I know, ghosts sometimes wander the earth! Be with me always… take any form you like… Drive me mad, only don’t leave me in this abyss where I cannot find you!"

The novel is considered one of the first examples of female gothic.
