The Time of Silence

A young inquisitive researcher studies a rare strain of cancer cells in the laboratory. Special mice, carriers of the strain, were sent to Madrid from America. Suddenly, Pedro discovers that the mice are gone. However, it is too early to grieve: Amador, the lab assistant, had managed to sell several specimens to his friend who lives in the slums outside the city. Pedro and Amador set out to procure the precious mice… and get lost in the whimsical world of post-war Madrid, which resembles a grotesque city from a dream more than a real metropolis. “A city without a face, erected out of nowhere in the middle of a desert… conceived without inspiration, yet aimed at the future… where man is merely a miniature copy of the city…”
