What the Tide Hides

Maria Orunya continues the cycle of detective novels about Valentina Redondo and Oliver Gordon. This time, the action takes place in Santander, the capital of Cantabria. This northern seaside city was once a summer royal residence and is now considered one of the safest in Spain, but it is here, among the wealthy mansions, expensive yachts, and luxurious parks, that Lieutenant Redondo will face an impossible crime for the first time in her career.

A sea cruise on a luxurious schooner through Santander Bay is unexpectedly cut short when the hostess of the evening, the all-powerful head of an elite tennis club, is found dead. Her cabin is locked from the inside, no one could have entered unnoticed, and most importantly – no weapon is visible that could have inflicted the fatal wound. On board are only eight passengers and five crew members, and it will soon become clear that nearly everyone is hiding something about their relationship with the deceased. Valentina Redondo begins to suspect that this is not just a mysterious murder. Meanwhile, Oliver Gordon once again finds that his fate intertwines with the investigation.
