Emotionless characters do not make mistakes — but the reader or viewer is unlikely to find it interesting to follow their fate. To push a hero into a difficult choice, deepen an internal or external conflict, it is necessary to place them in stressful conditions and immerse them in a state that will throw them off balance, heighten their feelings, and allow emotions to surface. Following the character's excessive reactions and uncontrollable emotions will inevitably be thoughtless actions and mistakes, and working through them will become a powerful driver of personal growth and plot development.
