The Time Traveler's Wife

At the center of the plot is Chicago librarian Henry DeTamble, who suffers from a rare genetic disorder and involuntarily travels through time. His life is intertwined with Clare Abshire, an artist who creates sculptures out of paper. She meets him at different periods of her life: in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. For her, the relationship with him is from the very beginning linked not only with love but also with the constant expectation of sudden disappearances and returns. The novel combines a love story with a science fiction premise of time travel. Inside is a story about marriage, trust, the loss of a sense of stability, and the attempt to maintain closeness when the future and the past constantly interfere with the present.
